THHN is a nylon-coated, thermoplastic, high-heat-resistant wire.
For electrical wire and cable, it is constructed with a particular insulation substance, temperature rating, and usage circumstance.

The dual thermoplastic high-temperature water-resistant nylon-jacket (THWN) rating on the majority of THHN cable types sold by AWC permits its use in damp environments.
THHN cable with pure copper conductors is available from AWC.
THHN wires contain solid, soft-drawn copper conductors with smaller diameters between 10 and 14 American Wire Gauge (AWG). Copper conductors are stranded in larger THHN wires.
THHN wires feature an abrasion-resistant nylon coating over a thin layer of flame-resistant PVC insulation.
Although you must adjust the wire’s ampacity at high ambient temperatures and when bundling cables together in a raceway or conduit, the wire is acceptable for applications of up to 90C in dry settings and 75C in wet conditions.
Can THHN Cable withstand voltage?
The THHN cable can withstand a maximum voltage of 600 volts.
All THHN cables adhere to both the UL 106 Standard for safety machine-tool wires and cables as well as the UL 83 Standard for safety thermoplastic-insulated wires and cables.
You can get permission from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and some THHN cables also have approval from the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.
