Flat ties or some called as Snap ties, are mainly used in construction to hold and bind things to make them secure and sturdy enough. Most are used in scaffolding to increase the overall safety of each joints and sections.
Concrete walls with a wide range of widths and heights can be formed vertically using Snap Ties. Depending on your demands, you can employ a variety of methods to develop the form system you need. Concrete formwork may be installed and then removed quickly and easily with the use of snap ties.
Snap ties used in concrete forms are essentially tension members. They are made to withstand the lateral pressure that hot concrete exerts on vertical forms. They hold the wall forms at the correct distance to produce the desired concrete wall thickness when fitted properly with cones or other objects.
Sometimes, snap ties break off which are in the place with the “snapped” end of the plate being slightly below the surface of the concrete, the snap ties can be broken free after the forms are removed thanks to indentations along each side.
Snap ties are measured with short-end (SE) Snap Ties measure 4-3/4” at each end, plus the wall thickness. Long-end (LE) Snap Ties measure 8-1/4” at each end, plus the wall thickness. Odd-end (OE) Snap Ties measure 4-3/4” at one end and 8-1/4” at the other end, plus the wall thickness.
