For more than five decades, polyvinylchloride (PVC) has been the material of choice for electrical conduit, duct, tubing, fittings, and boxes to reliably contain and protect power, telecommunications, utility, and signaling conductors and cabling.
PVC conduit is frequently utilized in damp and subterranean situations. PVC fittings, connectors, couplings, and elbows are available for this type of conduit. They are simple to install using a cleaner and PVC adhesive. Because PVC conduit is not conductive, a green ground wire should always be run through the conduit for correct grounding methods at connection locations.
PVC conduit is permitted in portions of dairies, laundries, canneries, or other wet sites; however, in locations where walls are routinely cleaned, the complete conduit system, including boxes and fittings used with it, must be constructed and equipped to prevent water from entering the conduit.
